Together with our experimental collaboration Prof. Xinhui Lu (the Chinese University of Hong Kong), Haibo Xue studied the impact of the crystallization kinetics on the quality of the perovskite films. By combining in-situ X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) and DFT calculations, the crystallization kinetics of FAPbI3-based perovskite film with sequential A-site doping of Cs+ and GA+ were investigated. The study shows controlling the perovskite crystallization kinetics at several stages of the film formation, i.e. the nucleation and the growth processes is possible. Applying different precursors at these different stages offers a lot of room to optimize the final quality of the perovskite films.

The manuscript is recently accepted for publication by Advanced Materials. The work is an excellent starting point for future development of the ultimate stable perovsikte films!

The scheme shows how Cs and GA impact the crystallization pathways of FA-based perovskites.
